Allotment 37a at Goatstown, south county Dublin.

To chronicle and detail the yearly life of an allotment in Goatstown South Dublin.

The allotments were set up many years ago when DLRCC purchased the land for a road extension, after it became clear that the road was not being built the council let the land as allotments. In 2006 the council decided to let more of the same land as allotments, in May 2006 I got my keys to plot 37a.

How To Apply for you own plot
To get an allotment plot in Goatstown, you need to put your name down on the list with the Development Department, their contact number is (01) 2054399, and just ask for the person dealing with the allotments.

Note: according to some recent contacts I have had, the list is suspended for 3 - 4 years. If this is the case when you ring up, all I can suggest is that you write to your local council representive and ask them to seek more land for allotments from DLRCC. The more people that write the more chance of getting land especially seeing as the local elections are coming up.

Time to exercise your vote.
